Summer List & PD Template Overview

Now that you’ve downloaded the template, let’s unpack what’s included

Summer Punch-Out List
The Summer List tab provides punch-out tasks for the summer months. This comprehensive list ensures that no detail is overlooked, covering everything from updating academic calendars to scheduling PD sessions and organizing parent orientations. It assigns ownership and due dates to each task, promoting accountability and efficiency, and includes notes and source documents to ensure everyone has access to the necessary information.

Using the list is straightforward. Each task is listed with a timeframe, specific notes, and designated owners and teammates, allowing for delegation and collaboration. The tier system prioritizes tasks, ensuring that the most critical items are addressed first. By regularly updating the status of each task, the team can easily track progress and identify any areas needing additional attention.

We included a sample list! It is by no means exhaustive but it will save you time to get you started.

Ops Summer Task List

Your ops team understands the importance of summertime better than anyone else! Whether it’s refinishing the floors or painting the building, some tasks can only be completed during summer break. We’ve given them a dedicated tab to track their tasks. This section allows for a clear assignment of responsibilities, with each task assigned to a specific individual or team.

Summer PD Prep

To get your school year off on the right foot, you must provide exceptional summer PD for your new and returning staff. In general, teachers value their summers, and requiring them to participate in professional development without a clear plan is likely to cause pushback. We included a PD Prep tab so that your leadership can organize effectively. We’ve included a Summer PD Expectations Memo and an FAQ to get you started.

Summer PD Expectations Memo
A memo like this is super helpful for school leaders because it makes sure everyone knows what's going on and what to expect during professional development. It covers all the basics, like where to be, what to wear, and when meals are served, which helps everything run smoothly. Setting clear expectations for punctuality, participation, and behavior, keeps everyone on the same page and reduces any confusion.

Summer PD FAQs

The Summer PD FAQs section is a comprehensive resource designed to address common questions and concerns that staff may have about the professional development program. This section covers a wide range of topics, from daily schedules to technology support and communication protocols. It provides links to essential resources, such as homeroom rosters, staff schedules, and student login information, ensuring that all necessary information is easily accessible. The FAQs also clarify logistical details like dismissal times, emergency procedures, and how to handle inaccurate student schedules. Additionally, it outlines the process for accessing support, whether it’s through tech tickets, contacting staff members, or consulting the intranet for information. By compiling these frequently asked questions and their answers in one place, the template ensures that staff can quickly find the information they need, reducing confusion and allowing them to focus on their professional development.

Summer PD Schedule Template
The PD Schedule template is designed to offer a clear, structured, and comprehensive overview of the professional development activities spread across ten days. Each day is dedicated to specific themes such as "Mission, Leadership, Staff," "Instructional Priorities," and "Student Culture," ensuring a focused and organized approach to training. The schedule outlines precise timings for sessions, starting with welcoming ice-breakers and extending through various essential topics like goal setting, data-driven instruction, classroom management, and content-specific breakouts. It includes detailed logistical information such as assigned individuals for each session, breakfast arrangements, and even time for surveys and announcements. By incorporating regular breaks, work times, and collaborative activities, the PD Schedule ensures that staff members are not only well-informed but also actively engaged and prepared for the upcoming school year.

Summer PD Session List & Description
The Session List tab is a key part of the professional development template, breaking down each training session. It includes important details like the date, topic, title, and description, making everything organized and easy to follow. It shows who’s responsible for each session, the time, and who’s attending, which helps track participation and roles. It also notes if the session is for the whole group or smaller groups, aiding in planning and resource use. The progress column gives real-time updates on each session’s status, keeping everyone informed and the PD schedule on track. This layout helps streamline activities and improves accountability and communication among staff.
